BULLISH RACING HEADS INTO NHRA ATCO WITH POINTS LEAD

ATCO, New Jersey (May 12, 2005) – The Bullish Motor Racing team took advantage of the first break after five continuous weeks of racing to prepare for the upcoming Northeast NHRA Sport Compact Nationals, the fourth race in the 11-race 2005 NHRA Xplod Sport Compact Racing Series. Following a victory and a runner-up finish in the last two NHRA races, team owner and driver Ara Arslanian is heading into the weekend atop the points chase in the NHRA Drivers Championship.

“We’re in a great position,” said Arslanian. “But it’s also really early in the season, we know there’s a lot more racing to do before we even get to the halfway point. And because we’re running both the NHRA and NDRA championships, we know have double the amount of work as the next guy, but we have three years of experience working for us.”

The veteran status of the team’s StreetGlow-sponsored Solara is not to be understated as the team competes in a field of new entries benefiting from some of the very technology that the Bullish team helped develop. The StreetGlow Solara made its competition debut in 2002, and has competed in over 50 races since then – with a large percentage of those resulting 300 or so passes in the six-second, 200+ mph range. In fact, Arslanian and the Solara recorded the first six-second sport compact pass in NHRA history and no other car in the circuit has accumulated as much high-speed track data as the StreetGlow Solara. That said the Bullish story this year has been about renewal as the team unveiled the biggest change in its engine program since its 2002 start.

The Solara is now powered by a 2JZ Inline-6 engine stroked to 3.4L by the off-the-shelf HKS 3.4L Stroker system and equipped with a Turbonetics twin-turbo system. Continual modifications and upgrades to the over all program have kept the team busy in the six races since the beginning of the season. And although the true potential of the new engine combination has yet to be found, a best-ever E.T. of 6.64 at the NHRA Moroso season opener was a little teaser of what the “new” StreetGlow Solara was capable of.

“In a lot of ways, 2005 is a new start for Bullish Racing. New engine programs, new cars, and new partnerships make this a really exciting time for the team and our supporters. Our new HKS 3.4 L stroker engine program has revolutionized our engine program, as I’m sure it will for all 2JZ competitors soon. Bullish’s new partnership with the great people at AEM is already seeing results on the dragstrip and will be even making more headlines when out Import Dragster makes its track debut.”

In the five week race schedule leading up to the break before the Atco race, the Bullish team has sought to establish engine tuning baselines to mesh with the vast knowledge the team already has about their C&F Racecars-built chassis. Despite the ongoing development work, Arslanian and the Solara turned in an impressive three-win, one runner-up record in the five-race NHRA and NDRA stint. The Atco race will allow the team to incorporate some of the tweaks that has been put off with the extended travel schedule.

“Atco will be an exciting weekend for Bullish Racing fans. Now that we’re in the points lead, we’re in ‘protect’ mode. But we’ve been steadily finding out more and more about what this new engine likes and it should still make for some great numbers this weekend. Atco is another home state race for us, so we’re expecting to see a lot of our great local fans at the race.”
