BULLISH RACING BEGINS CAMPAIGN FOR FOURTH STRAIGHT NDRA TITLE THIS WEEKEND
PHOENIX, Arizona (March 18, 2005) – For the third consecutive season, Bullish Motor Racing will enter the NDRA (NOPI Drag Racing Association) season opener as the reigning champion. For the second straight year, Bullish team owner and driver Ara Arslanian will be the champion behind the wheel of the team’s StreetGlow-sponsored Solara. Racing from the start of the season with the proverbial “bull’s eye” on your back is not easy, but the Bullish team has made it an art form; competing with the number one points position for most of their competitive history. Arslanian and the Bullish team have been steadily preparing themselves for the start of this year’s season at the inaugural NOPI Race Wars Phoenix, March 19-20, hosted by Phoenix, Arizona’s Firebird Raceway.
“We can’t wait to pull into Phoenix and lay down two fat strips of burning rubber,” exclaimed Arslanian. “We’ve been at home watching all the stock car boys steal all the excitement and we’re ready to claim our share. The championship is only a piece of paper and a nice trophy if you can’t defend it on the track - we’re ready to go hunting for our fourth NDRA championship.”
Last year, a conservative race plan and steady tuning helped the Bullish team to be one of the most consistent teams on the circuit, which spanned almost 20 races for Bullish - more than any other professional sport compact team. The result was an unprecedented fourth championship (NDRA Pro Compact) in the team’s three years of competition history and a third place finish in the NHRA Sport Compact’s Pro RWD category. For 2005, Bullish is acknowledging the recent advancements of competitors by implementing some of the biggest engine program changes since the debut of their Solara program in 2002.
As part of the new engine program, Bullish will be utilizing a new twin-Turbonetics turbocharger configuration at the Phoenix event. In addition, the displacement of the inline-six engine has been increased from 3.0 L to 3.4 L with a new HKS stroker package. Besides the big Solara program changes, the team will be also showing off a ground-breaking new import-powered Pro Extreme Compact class dragster to the press and public for the first time at the event.
“We’ve got a lot of new goodies to show off in the Solara and we’re unveiling our new Bullish Racing/AEM Import Dragster. I think the Phoenix fans are in for a real treat. The win/loss columns are all wiped clean and everybody is perfect until the first round of eliminations; that’s the other exciting part of a season opener.”
2005 represents the NDRA’s fourth season since it debuted in 2002. Bullish Motor Racing has captured every Pro Compact championship since the series start and is competing for an unprecedented fourth. The event will be taped for broadcast on SPEED Channel’s Nopi TunerVision at a future date. In addition, results of the competition will be posted daily at the series website accessible at www.nopi.com .
